Press Release

Introducing Plants Kit 12, Laubwerk Updates, and Cyber Sale

Potsdam (Germany), November 24, 2017: German digital botany software company Laubwerk today announces release 1.0.25 of their successful Player plugins for the Laubwerk Plants Kits, a collection of render-ready, realistic 3D plants designed specifically for architects, CG and VFX artists. The new Plants Kit 12 - Subtropical Shrubs - as well as the updated versions of Plants Kits 1-11, and of the Plants Kit Freebie are immediately available for SketchUp, Maya, 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, Houdini, and Python (Windows). Furthermore, the Cyber Sale 2017 with 25% discount has started.

Laubwerk Plants Kits allow architects, CG artists, and VFX specialists to insert photorealistic tree models into their 3D scenes quickly and easily, without the usual slow downs due to overly complicated parameters or excess memory usage. Laubwerk accomplishes this goal by giving users just the right amount of variation in their 3D tree models, without overwhelming the user or their computer. Each tree model comes in 3 shapes, with 3 ages, and 4 seasons per shape. Adjustable level of detail settings means that each tree looks great without slow navigation or long rendering times.

Plants Kit 12 is a selection of both popular and attactive subtropical shrubs and bushes species planted in parks and gardens such as oleander and magnificent angel’s trumpet or bay laurel. Shrubs are not hardy but containers can be placed outdoors during the summer in temperate regions creating a Mediterranean feel. The new Kit 12 - Subtropical Shrubs and all Laubwerk Plants Kits are each available at the Laubwerk Store and selected Laubwerk resellers. Multi-user and EDU discounts are available. The Plants Kit Freebie is available for download at the Laubwerk Store, too.

"We are exited about our first subtropical shrubs Kit. It is a perfect companion for Plants Kit4 - Subtropical Trees!" says Philip Paar, CEO of Laubwerk. Alberto Cibinetto, architect and architectural visualizer from Bauclassroom (Italy), was one of Laubwerk's beta testers of the brand-new Kit 12. After creating a set of beautiful visualizations, Alberto states: "I fell in love with Laubwerk some years ago and since then we have always been creating our environment with Laubwerk Plants Kits. Kit 12 is simply amazing and subtropical shrubs are perfect for different kinds of projects, and work perfectly from scattering over large areas down to close-up images."

Highlights of the Plants Kit 1.0.25 update are:

  • SketchUp: Support for SketchUp Pro 2018, support for V-Ray 3.6, support for MacOS X High Sierra (10.13). Bug fix with special characters in Windows 10 users names
  • Maya: Bug fix for Maya 2018 support
  • 3ds Max: Fixed a bug that crashed 3ds Max when adding an empty Plant object to the scene on autosave, bug fixed a bug that a Plant replacement in the Browser did not refresh the viewport, improved behavior when a new Plant is assigned and all selected Plant objects are empty
