Introducing Plants Kit 11 and Important Player Plugin Update

Potsdam (Germany), April 12, 2017: German digital botany software company Laubwerk today announces release 1.0.24 of their successful Player plugins for the Laubwerk Plants Kits, a collection of render-ready, realistic 3D trees designed specifically for architects, CG and VFX artists. The new Plants Kit 11 - Tropical Shrubs - as well as the updated versions of Plants Kits 1-10, and of the Plants Kit Freebie are immediately available for SketchUp, Maya, 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, Houdini, and Python (Windows).

Plants Kit 11 is a selection of both common and distinctive tropical shrubs and bushes species planted in parks and gardens including the popular Chinese hibiscus, excellent shrubs with fragrant white flowers such as tabernaemontana 'Sweet Love' and great white frangipani, or Dona Luz pink mussaenda, which brings a strong color accent to every tropical garden.

"We are exited about our first tropical shrubs Kit. It is a perfect companion for Plants Kit 7 - Tropical Palms, and Plants Kit 3 - Tropical Broadleaf Trees!" says Philip Paar, CEO of Laubwerk. César Morales Hin, architectural visualizer from Costa Rica, was one of Laubwerk's beta testers of the brand-new Kit 11. He has created a set of beautiful visualizations. César states:  "A great set of plants! Specially loving the red sisters, the philodendrons and the thunbergias since they are very common in the kind of luscious gardens I visualize."

Highlights of the Plants Kit 1.0.24 update are:

  • SketchUp: Several improvements and bug fixes, e.g. Plants can be replaced through the Laubwerk Browser, editing of parameters of multiple Plants at the same time
  • Added support for Autodesk 3ds Max 2018 and Maya 2018
  • 3ds Max: Improved Laubwerk Browser, bug fix of the edit mesh modifier
  • Maya: Enabled color management for file nodes, bug fixes
  • Cinema 4D and Houdini: No changes

Windows users are advised to uninstall previous versions of the Laubwerk Player plugin before running the new installer.

The new Kit 11 - Tropical Shrubs and all Laubwerk Plants Kits are each available for 149 Euro (w/o VAT) at the Laubwerk Store and selected Laubwerk resellers. Multi-user and EDU discounts are available. The Plants Kit Freebie is available for download at the Laubwerk Store, too.

Laubwerk Plants Kits allow architects, CG artists, and VFX specialists to insert photorealistic tree models into their 3D scenes quickly and easily, without the usual slow downs due to overly complicated parameters or excess memory usage. Laubwerk accomplishes this goal by giving users just the right amount of variation in their 3D tree models, without overwhelming the user or their computer. Each tree model comes in 3 shapes, with 3 ages, and 4 seasons per shape. Adjustable level of detail settings means that each tree looks great without slow navigation or long rendering times.
