Laubwerk Releases Player 1.0.30 and Plants Kit 14 – Subtropical Desert Trees

Potsdam (Germany), September 05, 2019: German digital botany software company Laubwerk announces version 1.0.30 of their successful Player plugin for use with Laubwerk Plants Kits, a collection of render-ready, realistic 3D plants designed specifically for architects, CG and VFX artists. The new Plants Kit 14—Subtropical Desert Trees—as well as the updated versions of Plants Kits 1-13 and Plants Kit Freebie are available for immediate download for SketchUp, Maya, 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, Houdini, and Python.

Laubwerk Plants Kits enable architects, CG artists, and VFX specialists to insert photorealistic tree models into their 3D scenes quickly and easily, avoiding the usual slowdowns from overly complicated parameters or excess memory usage. Laubwerk makes this possible by providing just the right amount of options in their 3D tree models, without overwhelming the user or their computer. Each tree model comes in three shapes, with three ages, and four seasons per shape. Adjustable detail level settings mean that each tree looks great without slow navigation or long rendering times.

Plants Kit 14 is a selection of ten popular and attractive new Laubwerk Plants planted in desert parks, gardens, or streets, including showy specimen trees such as the Desert Museum palo verde, the Texas mountain-laurel, and the graceful palo blanco tree.

Laubwerk user Terry Pisel, founder of Try Design, a multidisciplinary architectural visualization and rendering studio based in Scottsdale, AZ, made an impressive set of images while testing a beta version of Plants Kit 14. Terry says: “I created a space that uses a common palette of materials found in the desert architecture of Arizona: rusted steel, concrete, and rammed earth. With the integration of Megascans rock assets and plants from Laubwerk, I was able to create a series of images in all four seasons that represent the beauty of the desert. What the team at Laubwerk put together was perfect! Truly amazing.”

The new Kit 14 and all other Laubwerk Plants Kits are available for 149 Euro each (before VAT) at the Laubwerk Store and Authorized Laubwerk Resellers. Multi-user and EDU discounts are also available. The Plants Kit Freebie is available for download at the Laubwerk Store, too.

Highlights of the Player 1.0.30 update are:

  • Cinema 4D: Added R21 support, improved material specular component for most renderers
  • SketchUp: Improved material specular component for V-Ray, fixed a bug that caused SketchUp to crash when rendering models containing plants removed from the user's plant library
  • 3ds Max: Improved material specular component for most renderers
  • Maya: Improved material specular component for most renderers.

Read the full list of improvements and fixes on the Release Notes page. To get the updates, sign in to your Laubwerk Account Page and download a fresh installer for your Plants Kits. Windows users are advised to uninstall previous versions of the Laubwerk Player plugin before running the new installer.
