3D Plants for CG Artists

Laubwerk offers easy-to-use software extensions for architects and CG artists looking for authentic 3D plants, and plant scattering tools.

With drag-and-drop simplicity, and easy-to-use tools that modify the shape, age, season and level of detail for each of Laubwerk's stunning 3D plants, users can seamlessly add 3D trees to any CG project. For Autodesk 3ds Max & Maya, MAXON Cinema 4D, Trimble SketchUp, Vectorworks 2023 (or newer) and Python.

LAUBWERK'S MISSION

3D trees are an essential part of many CG scenes. Laubwerk was founded on the idea that architects and CG artists shouldn't have to choose between inefficient photomontage, boring, static tree models that lack versatility, or overly-complicated modeling tools with hundreds of parameters that forces users to take extra time to design each 3D tree from scratch.
We believe that CG artists and architects require a drag-and-drop, render-ready solution with intuitive parameter to customize each 3D tree.

LAUBWERK'S SOLUTION

Our first solution is the Laubwerk Plants Kits, a series of render-ready 3D trees that offer maximum flexibility for users while minimizing the time (and computer memory) spent inserting foliage into 3D scenes.

Each Kit comes with 10 species of render-ready smart trees, that can be dragged-and-dropped into 3D scenes, then quickly and easily adjusted according to the shape, age, season and level of detail the scene requires.

All of this can be accomplished via the free Laubwerk Player that brings the 3D trees to life. This plugin Player seamlessly integrates into Autodesk 3ds Max and 3ds Max Design, MAXON Cinema 4D, Trimble SketchUp, Vectorworks 2023 (or newer) and Python. And more 3D design platforms are on the horizon.

LAUBWERK'S ADVANTAGE

Laubwerk's stands apart in the 3D tree software market by offering an elegant solution to the needs of CG artists by offering a happy medium between static plant libraries like HQ Plants®, ArchModels® and XfrogPlants®, and full plant modelers such as GrowFX® or Xfrog 5®.

Each 3D tree is created using a unique combination of procedural modeling and hand-detailing by a team of expert 3D artist and botanist, to ensure that each plant offers the highest-quality look using the least amount of processing power.

From there, novel programming solutions developed by Laubwerk's CG engineers offer a fluent interface which expertly balances the artists' desire for customization and the need to keep the process clean and simple for 3D artists who don't want their workflow interrupted.

LAUBWERK'S PARTNERS

What makes Laubwerk different from the competition is a combination of 3D technology, artistic expertise and plant science co-developed via enhanced partnerships with many of the industry's top authorities.

Each innovation is driven by Laubwerk co-founders: Landscape designer Philip Paar and software developer Timm Dapper, who lead a multidisciplinary team of experts supported by active partnership with CG industry leaders such as greenworks and Xfrog co-founder Prof. Oliver Deussen, head of the computer graphics research group at University of Konstanz, and NVIDIA research group at the Advanced Rendering Center in Berlin.

Laubwerk is an Autodesk® Authorized Developer, and maintains active partnerships with Forest Pack creators iToo software, and landscape scenery visualization firm Lenné3D GmbH.
